Two years ago, the Rotary Club of Etobicoke funded the building of a basic school building for 400+ students in the Township of Nimba, Liberia.

This 10 room school house is the only learning opportunity for children who walk many hours to attend classes. Honorary Club Member Cy Garland and colleague Gavin Dahn are our club's project managers for the school. For each part of the project Gavin travels to Liberia to oversea all the work.

We are proud to announce that our club has now provided funding for the next phase and in January 2014.  Gavin will be supervising the construction of cement floors, school desks and benches, blackboards, doors and windows.

Our Rotary Club of Etobicoke's sponsored school is well known by Liberian Ministry of Education officials, and Gavin Dahn was invited to meet the visiting President of Liberia in Toronto in September 2013 to further discuss the intention of providing government teachers once the school has received all the new additions.
