Dorothy Ley Hospice
Sep. 22, 2021
Since opening our doors in 1987, the Dorothy Ley Hospice has always been there to help individuals with end-of-life-care. And yet, in spite of our efforts – and those of others dedicated to the cause – accessing palliative care is still a challenge for many people in the community and across the city. At the Dorothy Ley Hospice, professional staff and trained volunteers work each day to help individuals with a life-limiting illness gain access to a wide range of services that are designed to enhance their quality of life. The 10-bed Residence provides 24-hour care in a home-like setting to 200 clients annually. Community support program staff serve nearly 1,500 people in the community. Service is provided by a staff of 34 (full and part-time), 12 palliative care physicians and over 280 volunteers who dedicate more than 23,000 hours each year. |
